My son was very excited about receiving this book. We have a few mythical style books like these in our collection, but this is the first on this subject.
We read it together and I actually learnt quite a bit from it myself... for instance I never knew that goblins were also part of the Fairy family.
'The Great Big Book of Monsters, Goblins, Dragons and Giants' is a fantastic book with a wonderful collection of myths and facts. The artwork is fantastic too, making you read more to find out the meanings behind the pictures. It's very descriptive. Not at all boring but not too over loaded with information either.
I think that out of all the fantasy books I've read in my life, this has got to be the best one yet. The cover was suitable since it looks a bit like an old book full of info about mythical creatures, which is sort of true. I found the book a bit slow at the start, but as soon as I started chapter 2: Dragons, I was busting to keep reading.
The myths that were scattered throughout the book were my favourite parts for the fact that I love myths and legends that are easy to read, and if they have good action in them. My favourite story was "The Dragon and the Phoenix" because it caught my attention and made me want to read it through the whole way.
I liked the facts about the creatures since they gave me more information about mythical creatures that I did and didn't know about. I liked the illustrations for they were pretty sharp and colourful, and they made simple monsters, like the kraken, look really, really awesome!
I would recommend this book to kids of all ages. The book is really kid-friendly and so I'm sure your child might like it as well as I do. If you like monsters and dragons, then get a copy of "The great Big Book of Monsters, Goblins, Dragons and Giants" today.

For someone who didn't intend to wreck the solar system's fragile balance of power, Jim Holden did a pretty good job of it. While Earth and Mars have stopped shooting each other, the core alliance is shattered. The outer planets and the Belt are uncertain in their new - possibly temporary - autonomy.
Then, on one of Jupiter's moons, a single super-soldier attacks, slaughtering soldiers of Earth and Mars indiscriminately and reigniting the war. The race is on to discover whether this is the vanguard of an alien army, or if the danger lies closer to home.
