It's an online phenomenon. Kids everywhere have discovered that the quickest path to rock-stardom does not involve after-school recorder lessons or lugging a tuba on the school bus. Skip right to the fun stuff and go directly for the glory - star in a music video.
Whether you lip-sync or play your own tunes, with Make Your Own Music Video you can create an awesome video starring your awesome self. Learn how to develop storyboards. Add drama with special angles and clever camera tricks. Deliver blockbuster special effects on a weekly allowance budget. Whether your style is country, pop, hip-hop, or headbangin' rock, our free editing software will make you look like the video star of the year. All you need is a basic video camera and a dream.
In addition to the software, the book comes with a green screen. This humble swatch of technological magic allows you to swap out the green background for any imagery you choose. This book has well written, detailed instructions on how to make your own music video. Everything you need is right there neatly tucked within the book - including a decent sized green screen.
My pre-teen nieces found the site itself a bit hard to navigate at first but once they figured it out, they were away! They loved how they could change the scene with a few clicks of a mouse. The step by step instructions starting from getting your music to sharing your finished video are really easy to both follow and understand. The illustrations were enjoyed by the girls as they inspired them to try some of the different ideas shown.
I actually enjoyed this and think it'll be a really good book for any student interested in drama/media or for those who just want to have fun with their friends and the video setting on their point and shoot camera. The information within the book itself wont be good for just music videos, it could by applied to any type of video you may want to make.... The sky's the limit!
Thanks to his joining the Computer Clubhouse programme, he has taken up a serious interest in video editing and multimedia composition. This book gave him some excellent inspiration and access to some great kid-friendly software too - via download.
Though the book is very kid-centric - and naturally so, being a Klutz product - as an adult also interested in multimedia authoring I was impressed at how well it put across some complicated ideas in easy-to-grasp ways... even though it was buried in amongst a pile of silly stuff that craftily disguises the learning as 'fun'.
Overall, though it's not my thing, watching how it sparked inspiration and ideas in my son's head, and got him keen to explore a 'younger' version of what his Dad does when it's time to make another submission for the YouTube Channel... well, the price tag is a small investment in the future of his education and possible career path. Another excellent job, Klutz crew!
