Cal's story has come a long way since January, with one death-defying moment after another, he has managed to track down clues (and lose them again), make friends, and most importantly, survive. September follows his attempts to find out what Oriana has done with his clues and opens a new can of worms regarding the death of Winter's parents. An exciting, easy read, I think the series is in many ways improving as it goes along. More is happening in each book and the things Cal has to do are both more realistic and more impossible. As the series hurtles towards it's impending conclusion, I am eager to discover what all of these cryptic clues add up to. What is the Ormond Singularity?

Well here we are again with yet another episode in the life that is Callum Ormond's. As usual Cal is running for his life from the assortment of crooks and villains that are hell bent on tracking him down, finding out what he knows and ultimately preventing him from solving the DMO 'Dangerous Mystery of the Ormonds'.

As has been the trend with each subsequent book a little more is revealed about the Ormond's and the Ormond Singularity, also of a welcome twist is the revealing of some more information about Winter and her past, particularly that of her parents. We also see Boges involvement deepen even more and once again he proves that there is more to him than one would think, especially when it comes to making surveillance bugs out of particularly nothing, in fact you might also call him the next MacGyver.

Now as we come into the final quarter of the series I really think things will start to ramp up from here and I can't wait to see what the next book brings.

Once again, dear readers, we are brought into the daily struggle for survival and answers that makes up the lifem of Cal Ormond - teenager, fugitive, runaway, clue hunter - falsely accused of a number of crimes and acts of destruction committed by those who are chasing him seeking to pump him for information, or just kill him outright.

In this book we are given more insight into plight, his history and family secrets, and some interesting details about the death of Winter's parents come to light. When considered along with some hints and little details that showed up in previous books, it implies a deeper connection between Winter and Cal's situations than first assumed.

Once again we see how inventive and resourceful Boges can be when he not only supplies a miniature listening device, but also modifies an air rifle to be a suitable delivery system, and rigs the bug up with a disguise that manages to fool the victim, Oriana de la Force. With luck on their side, Cal and Boges learn enough that the gamble pays off in spades - and also discover their subterfuge in the previous title wasn't detected and has successfully stalled Oriana's clue hunt.

Overall, once more we see a quality addition to the storyline. Sure, the cliff-hanger ending once more leaves Cal 'up the creek without a paddle' but at least this time he has a good head start. Still, I do have to wonder what stroke of providence is going to appear to get him out of the 'creek' this time.
