this one was really just one of the pack for me. nothing overly bad about it but nothing that really made it stand out. i was expecting a bit more flavour from the sauce but was also really happy it didnt have the nasty fire some cheaper sweet chilli sauces come with. the chicken seemed to be a bit shy that night because it didnt really put in much of an appearance in the sandwich i had. the tomato and mushroom were very tasty though which gave the sandwich as a whole a better account than it would have otherwise. a good feed for a lighter eater but a bit too light to really satisfy me. regardless of that i think dominoes are cutting away an important part of the market by restricting these to the lunch menu only.
This sandwich would be the pick of the lot for me. All the fillings worked and complemented each other. The sweet chilli was just spicy enough, to let you know its there without overpowering everything else and my tastebuds. I like my spice to enhance the flavours rather than kill them, and this one is good.
The other fillings are just awesome in a sandwich. the tomatoes keep it moist and work well with the sauce and the mushrooms give your teeth something to sink in to, I love mushrooms! If there was one thing that was missing it would be capsicum but that's just my opinion.
Good bread too, I didn't even know what ciabatta bread was but I'm now a fan. It holds heat well and is a good chewable texture, and this sandwich managed to keep all its insides on the inside - it just keeps getting better.
Would be an awesome meal for when a pizza seems a bit too heavy for lunch, and a full one with maybe a side of fries would be quite filling.
Didn't think much of this one really. The chicken was nice, if a little 'thin on the ground', and the bun was nice and crispy on the outside but still soft inside, but in the end it just didn't give much in the way of spicy satisfaction. I was quite looking forward to something that had a bit of kick, only to get something that tasted, well, frankly bland.
Using the word 'fillings' to describe this one would be misleading. 'Toppings' is the best you could aim for without risking false advertising. There were a total of two slices of tomato, about 9 small-to-medium bits of mushroom, a hefty dose of onion and a few slices of chicken in my half. The other half was much the same, but was lighter on onion and had an extra slice of tomato.
All in all, it had a lot of potential but I found it vaguely unsatisfying.
This one was a close runner for second place with me... it had all the right ingredients in it, but the flavours just didn't seem to come right out. For example, I didn't realise this was supposed to be a sweet chilli sauce... it tasted a little spicy, sure, but not enough to be recognisable as chilli. Personally, with the way my tummy was feeling after testing four other OSBs, this was actually a positivie aspect I was pleased by.
I loved the combination of ingredients, but wish there had been more of each. This one was just a bit 'flatter' than the others, making it feel a little less 'value for money'. When you consider that if you order the pizzas online they are about the same price as one of these, I would have chosen a pizza, given the choice, as there are always leftovers with those.
Despite that, were they to be bulked up a bit they would be a real winner in my books. The ciabatta was inspirational as the bread of choice, as it's crisp outer crust keeps the sub firm and free of filling-dumping droops, and the mozzarella cheese acted as a very adequate glue, binding the fillings into place. I loved the fresh slices of tomato, and would love to see this appearing on the dinner menu as well... it's not fair the lunch crowd get all the best stuff.
Overall, a good third-placer for me, but still not up to full spec as the top feeder.
