SkyCity SkyJump product reviews

New Zealand's Highest Jump! Leap off Auckland's famous Sky Tower - 192 metres straight down!

SkyJump is one of New Zealand's most thrilling tourist attractions and one of Auckland City's "don't miss!" experiences.

SkyJump can be described as Base Jumping while attached to a wire - just like a movie stuntman. You'll fall very fast (approximately 85kph) for around 11 seconds, and then come to a very smooth landing in the plaza below.

If you want to experience something really special and totally unique that you can tell your friends and family about I would have no hesitation in recommending the SkyJump as an event that anyone, of almost any age, should consider when in Auckland.

My reasons for saying this are many, but mainly the total professionalism shown by the operators, the absolute buzz that you will experience and the continued adrenalin rush that you will experience.

I found this to be a huge amount of fun. I was so much more relaxed after doing the SkyWalk and was able to really enjoy the whole sensation. Once again the SkyJump crew were totally amazing in taking me through all the safety steps with reassurance that every safety procedure was followed and repeated at least twice.

The actual jump was a blast. You feel in so much control, unlike the usual bungy that we have all seen on TV. SkyJump is unique in that it is controlled and you descend spread-eagle, face down, utilising a custom-built descender rig, much the same as professional stunt performers use on the big budget movies.

Having completed the jump, I viewed the DVD in the reception area. It was hard to believe that I completed something I previously thought I would never do.

My final few words are, for locals, tourists, in fact anyone who wants to spend approx 1-3 hours (depending on whether you do one or both of the two attractions) completing an unforgettable experience in the capable hands of experienced operators, this could be just the ticket.
