Doctor Who - The Infinite Quest product reviews

Doctor Who gets an animated make over in this wonderful and exciting full-length version of the animated series.

Based on the brilliant and popular series, The Infinite Quest sees the Doctor and his companion Martha step into a new dimension - a cartoon one. The pair set off on an animated adventure through space following a trail of clues across wild and wonderful alien worlds, to find the location of the legendary lost spaceship, the Infinite. However, the evil space pirate Baltazar is also searching for the ship, believing it will grant him his dearest wish - a means to destroy Earth and rule the galaxy. With spectacular animation, this vibrant cartoon is as gripping as any usual episode of Doctor Who.

Even with today's advances in animation technology, there is still a place for cell-animation in our hearts. Sure, with movies like "Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within" you are getting almost lifelike... but there's something a little 'off' about "Almost..." - it's so close but not quite real, and it feels wrong... but with cell-shading, it's a cartoon... not trying to be anything more, or less, than a bit of chewing-gum for the eyes... and that's just cool with me.

So I have to say that this was a really refreshing movie to sit down and watch, with an armload of fizzy drink and popcorn and my son at my feet. No blood, gore or violence to worry about... OK a brief patch of robot-bashing... but again... it's so UNreal that the youngster don't get confused and think it's acceptable behaviour on the playground. All the same wit and humour David and Freema brought to the TV series... a whole raft of new monsters and creepies that would have bankrupted Weta to produce in wardrobe, and a pretty intriguing storyline to boot... all good stuff.

My only tiny gripe is that even with the full-on storyline and usual location-jumping going on... the overall story just seemed a little... I dunno... hollow. There wasn't the usual 'full' feeling that I get when I watch the actors themselves. David just has an aura that fills in the gaps in the plot I think.

Overall... not my utter favourite, but still damned good viewing and something all Doc fans should watch, even if only the once.

Type of Show: Brenton Spencer, Martin Wood

Product image for Sanctuary: Season 1The beautiful, enigmatic and brilliant scientist, Dr. Helen Magnus, has the spectacular proof that the frightening beings that we dismiss as figments of our imagination are indeed real. With her new recruit, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Will Zimmerman, her fearless daughter Ashley and quirky tech-whiz Henry, Magnus uses a unique combination of instinct, medicine and cutting edge technology to protect, and study, the clandestine population of strange and sometimes terrifying beings, known as abnormals, which hides among humans.

There are monsters loose in the world. And they are the key to the future of our race.
