Cooked long grain rice with mushrooms.
Uncle Ben's Express rice takes just 2 minutes in a microwave, or around 3 minutes in a saucepan.
Gently steamed in a microwave-safe pouch for maximum freshness and flavour. Easy to open, quick to cook, great tasting and no washing up afterwards!
Available in a range of flavours.

Because I work long shifts and most of the time can't be bothered cooking good healthy food from scratch all the time I do tend to stock up on quick and easy foods that are better for me than takeaways all the time, so thank goodness for Uncle Toby and his range of express rice! If the mushroom flavour is stocked at the supermarket I prefer to buy this flavour but most of the time it isn't stocked on the shelf...not sure if popular and they always run out or maybe not popular enough so they don't stock it that often.
I do like mushrooms in general so when I spotted this flavour I got a little bit excited! Maybe too excited because I was initially disappointed with the mushroom content in the rice, it was flavoured with mushroom powder of sorts maybe but didn't have a lot of actual pieces of mushroom mixed into the rice.
The lack of mushrooms in the rice hasn't stopped me from buying more packets, because they are convenient and easy to whip up and prefect when only feeding one person! 2 minutes in the microwave and the rice is cooked perfectly, and the soft plastic bag allows me to squeeze the rice while it is in the bag to stop it from clumping together while it is cooking, so most of the time it comes out clump free and prefect every time.
Uncle Toby's is a brand that can be trusted and while I would like the price to be cheaper it is definitely cheaper to buy this rice than it is to buy takeaways! Stocking up on it when it is on special is definitely the time to be buying it..and with so many flavours to choose from I don;t think I will ever get bored of buying and eating Uncle Toby's rice...with the mushroom flavour high up on the list of my flavour rice to buy.
This has to be one of my most favourite of the Uncle Ben's range. The mushrooms aren't too overwhelming and they most definitely are perfectly tender and juicy. At first I thought this might be too mushroomy like other mushroom based meals i've had before, however this was not the case.
While I can certainly see this as a great side dish, I prefer to eat this as a standalone meal and a great and satisfying meal it is.
Easily my favourite of all the express rices so far.
Rip 'n' heat 'n' eat - that simple!
As a vegetarian it is always welcome to find heat and eat vegetarian dishes - and tasty ones at that - My only minor gripe is that the vegetarian symbol isn't more obvious. A small black symbol on the back of the pack that I totally missed even when scanning all the ingredients for anything non-vegetarian. I did, however, find it by chance later.
Naturally, Mushroom Rice is a winner and can be served alone or as a side dish with other foods. One can add other things to it to bulk it out - other vegetables, eggs (meats if you are so inclined).
This is one tasty treat to keep in the store cupboard and one I will keep well hidden from my carnivorous wife because - IT'S MINE!
This is a very easy meal to prepare. My 6yr old daughter is rapt that she can make it by herself.
The rice doesn't stick together, its very fluffy.
We have tried a number of these and have found they have a very subtle flavor and although great on their own, would be very nice with some added meat/fish and some veggies.
Hubby is going to take some of these away with him next time he goes hunting. They will take up little room in his back and he doesn't need lots of water to cook.

The Kauri Coast Kumara Rosti is a favourite among children and adults alike.
This recipe originated from the Swiss who traditionally served the shredded kumara delight with a grated cheese topping. The Kauri Coast Kumara Rosti is famous for its tantalizing onion flavour which makes you want to go back for more.
Te Kumara Rosti is great to have on hand for those summer barbecues or served as a base for a vegetarian stack.
