Product reviews...
A while ago I had the request from a friend to check out the viability of getting a big picture printed on to canvas-effect paper and block-mounted. The price was horrendous, over $400! however, a chance conversation with a photographer working at a local camera shop led me to these folks.
Not only was the price FAR lower than the option, but my friend thought the results would be much better... and she was right! The image to be printed was a composite image, a panoramic spread of a beautiful beach on the Coromandel Penninsula. It was 1.7m wide, and about 30cm tall, and was going to be a nightmare to produce in sections and join up later... so we went for it as one unit.
This turned out to be such a good idea, not only did I end up ordering another one for myself (since I was the photographer who took the shot) but also a third one to hang in the reception area of the rental accommodation complex she manages up there in Whitianga. The time it took was a remarkable 4 days turnaround and the print job was expertly done. The customised wooden frame was fully adjustable to allow for any stretching to be compensated for by using the built-in wedges to spread the joins in either direction, allowing you to create directional tension and eliminate any creases.
The only tiny down-side was that there were no hanging ropes or wires supplied, but when you consider that there are a number of ways to hang such a picture, it's not a bad thing at all... and a quick stop at your nearest $2 shop will give you all you need to hang it. I chose to screw 2 small eyelets into the inner edges of the side bars of the frame, and 2 small hooks into the wall, so that I could easily hang and later dismount it for cleaning. This proved to be a very good option, as it hangs almost flush with the wall now.
Overall, this is a stunning way to present any image, and I have since had 4 more images printed, some of my artwork, and a couple of family portraits to give to other members of the family as gifts. Everyone who sees them reacts much the same, with gasps and impressed awe... and the price is far more affordable than you'd think, even at full retail rates!
