After a hard day of stomping sand along the delightful Buffalo Beach, it was time to grab a quick lunch. With no supplies yet laid in at our chosen place of stay, we spotted this little place which looked quite tidy and appealing, with it's outdoor seating and ol' time Western vibe. We popped in and our first impression staggered us... the prices were outrageous. Two pies, a sausage roll, a couple of sandwiches, a sweet danish and a slice of lollycake, plus 3 drinks and the bill was over $30! A hell of a lunch!
As for the food, well, in all fairness there was nothing wrong with it... but there wasn't much to rave about. The Steak & Cheese pie I had was about average, with the pastry a little on the burnt side, but the filling actually had a couple of chunks in it. The sandwiches were no great shakes, pretty much the same as you could buy at almost any moderately priced coffee shop. The only saving grace really was that in this area, I have been told, all prices are higher than 'normal' due to this place being a bit tourist'ish and also the extra costs of just getting the raw materials shipped or trucked in.
Overall, the price was quite scary and off-putting, and there wasn't much to set this bakery apart from any others. If you have more dollars than sense, you'll possibly find this place nice, otherwise I would recommend you seek food elsewhere... there are others.
