Twice as Clever product reviews

Twice as clever follows the model of That's Pretty Clever. Each turn the active player rolls six dice, chooses one of them to mark off a space on their scoring grid, places any dice with lower numbers aside, then re-rolls any remaining dice.

The white die is a joker and can be used as any one of the other five colors. After the active player chooses at most three dice, then the other players each choose one of the set-aside dice for use on their scoring sheet.

Twice as clever has five new dice-marking challenges and a new action beyond the re-roll and "use one more die" actions of the earlier game.

Having enjoyed the first game in this series, I happily nabbed a copy of this follow-up, when I saw it available at a favourite board game shop. The basics of the game are the same, roll the six dice, select the one you wish to use, any dice with numbers lower are placed on the platter, the rest you get to re-roll until you have selected three dice. Each dice is a different colour and can only be written in their same-colour on your sheet. White is wild or if you are choosing to write in the dark blue section, must be added to the dark blue dice, and vice versa. While these components of gameplay are the same, the sections on your scoring card are completely different with different rules.

Each coloured section has its own rules which keeps the game interesting. As you fill up your score card you will have the opportunity to gain bonuses which will either let you fill out an extra spot on your sheet, gain a reroll, a plus one (which allows you to use another dice once the player has stopped rolling) or the new feature which allows you to add a dice on the silver platter back into your hand. I love that the gameplay is similar enough that you know what to do but you still have to learn new rules, to score the best you can. Glad I added this to my collection, though out of the three in this collection so far, this is my third favourite.
