Muffin Time product reviews

Muffin Time is a chaotic card game with more twists and turns than you can shake a spork at!

Battle your friends, family, and hyper-intelligent pets by drawing and playing from a deck of unique cards that'll either help you, thwart others, or mix things up for the sheer hell of it! To win the game, you just need to start your turn with exactly 10 cards in your hand but if you think that'll be easy, you're wrong (wronger than a duck wearing shoes- and that's pretty damn wrong).

Asdfmovie, created by Thomas 'TomSka' Ridgewell, has been making people giggle and guffaw for over a decade and now that high-energy randomness has escaped the small screen and invaded your game night. So, if you're looking for a hilarious and unpredictable game, I hear Cards Against Humanity is pretty fun! But since you probably own that already, maybe give Muffin Time a chance.

My kids saw this game a couple of years ago and collectively decided that it would be a great birthday gift from them... Well, they've enjoyed it far more than me and it isn't a game I would keep, had the kids not given it to me. Everyone starts off with three cards in their hand and the game ends when someone hits exactly ten cards, declares it and survives at ten cards until their next turn. Sounds easy enough but since all the cards have you stealing or giving cards to people, it has the potential to last a very long time (and I don't really like games that have the potential to just keep going and going and going). However, I play it with my kids because they enjoy it and it is time with them.

There are three types of cards, handily colour-coded to make life easier. Blue cards you simply play and fulfill whatever the action says (make someone talk like a baby, steal/give cards etc.), green which allow you to make a blue card effect someone else or backfire onto the person who played it, and red cards which sit face down infront of you and are activated when someone fulfils the requirements (give someone a fright, someone says your name, someone asks the time etc.). Now, don't get me wrong, my dislike of the game doesn't mean it can't be fun at all, if everything goes well it can be a very fun game, I just find a game like this taking 40minutes or so a bit tedious (the box says 20-40 minutes).
