Happy Death Day product reviews

Blumhouse (Split, Get Out, Whiplash) produces this original and inventive rewinding thriller in which a blissfully self-centred co-ed (Jessica Rothe) is doomed to relive the day of her murder unless she can identify her masked assailant and hopefully stop the madness. If she can't, she will be stuck in an insane loop, reliving a ghoulish nightmare that has become her death day.

Special Features:
    •  Alternate Ending & Deleted Scenes
    •  Worst Birthday Ever!
    •  Behind the Mask: The Suspects
    •  The Many Deaths of TreeAnd

I first noticed this advertised at our local cinema but unfortunately due to having young kids I was unable to see it on the big screen but when I noticed it was available on DVD I was really happy as now I can watch it.

It is not a long movie but it packs a lot into the time it does have. In the start I was watching thinking I wonder how she dies and also what a nasty person she is. I was expecting that each "new day" would be slightly different but I was soon amazed and laughing at how she reacted when she realised that she was reliving the day over an over and what she did to try and run away and change how the day ended. Although Tree starts off as a real bitch (no other words for how nasty she is) as the movie goes along she starts changing and by the end you kind of feel sorry for her.

I was glad that I have this movie on DVD and can rewatch it as there is not a lot of blood and gore like a lot of horror movies have, she does die in a lot of different ways and her reaction to waking and finding that she is going to have to relive the day all over again and die at the end is rather funny. Some of the actors were more believable than others, Jessica Rothe was a good choice for Tree.

I have watched this movie twice and notice new things on the second time around, some of my previous thoughts and questions were answered. I have also had a look at all the bonus features, don't like the alternate ending at all but that is probably because I like happy endings. What would have been nice to be included in the bonus features is the bloopers as I kept watching the deleted scenes thinking but that wasn't even funny and then remembering that it was deleted scenes and not bloopers.

I would be interested in watching more movies like this as it has a good story and is not the stuff that nightmares are made of.
