A little girl searches for her father. She spies a 'mowing dad', a 'rowing dad', a 'reading dad' and a 'weeding dad', but where is her dad? Children will delight in the surprises of the search. A charmingly playful story full of rollicking fun and humour

I'm always excited to see what books Scholastics release for special celebrations throughout the year such as Easter, Christmas and Father's Day as it's always so important to celebrate these occasions children not only through giving gifts, but also through reading them books about such things which makes the lead up to these events so much more fun, and also helps them to understand a little bit about each one. As usual Scholastics didn't disappoint this year when they released their range of Father's day books, there were so many to choose from but the one that really stood out for my daughter and I was 'I Spy Dad'.

Right from the front cover Miss 3 was drawn to this book, she loved the fact that the little girl on the front cover wa looking through a rolled up paper which she was using as her telescope, as she has a empty cardboard tube which she often walks around with using to play pirates or look at things up close, so of course she ran off to get this before we began the story. Throughout the story the little girl on the cover looks around her trying to find her Dad, however it takes her a while to spot him in amongst the many any Dad's with their children, eventually she finds her Dad and is very excited to see him giving him a great big hug.

The pictures in the book are beautifully done and show so much happiness on each of the characters throughouts faces, encompassing the beautiful relationship that a child has with their Dad. The thing that I liked the most about this book, as did the staff I work with at a daycare was that the book features many different looking Dad's, those with different skin colours and hair colours, those with glasses and those with beards, we loved this as it shows that we are all unique and we are all different and this is what makes up special. The other great thing that this book showed is that both Mum's and Dad's can do any job for example there were pictures of Dad's sewing and reading with their children. This book made lot's of great conversation with Miss 3 and my day children about what they love doing with their Dad's and what makes them special, it really neat to hear all their answers and we have written these down as part of their fathers day presents we are making.

The story is short enough to read to and be enjoyed by younger children as well as older it is written in a rhyme like form and with only a few describing or action words per page, it is easy for the children to join in with reading after hearing it a few times.

Another great book by Scholastics which would make a great gift for Dad on Father's day as something he can read with to his child. I know Miss 3 loves it and i'm sure it will continue to be enjoyed year round, especially around Father's Day.
