Pepper and Poe product reviews

Pepper is an old cat. He is used to his normal routine in the house that he rules. That is until a new kitty named Poe comes along and starts messing up everything. This hilarious story reinvents the age old new sibling topic with a furry twist, taking an emotionally heavy subject and masking it with humour.

We have recently got a new kitten and as such my son is now obsessed with all things cats so I knew this book would be a hit. When my review parcel arrived this was the first thing my boy noticed and wanted to read straight away. So quickly we settled in to read!

Things are pretty tough for old timer Pepper when the younger Poe moves in which we could relate to after having pur own newcomer I'm our cas t Jazz. Things were at first tough for our dog! I think this book could be good to highlight alsorts of adjustments like getting a new pet or a new sibling. I thought this was great and would definitely recommend it to parents of children who have recently had a new child.

The book is so soft and light hearted with a good amount of humour and a touch of sweetness at the end. But it is mostly the pictures that tell the humorous side. With kitten Poe causing all sort of mischief in his first days. Wr spent a lot of time looking at the pictures and its good as though my 3 year old can't read the worxs he can use the pictures to make his own story.

The pictures are really well done and I loved the black background with the cartoon style illustrations. The pictures were my favourite part of the book and I don't think I would of enjoyed the book so much if it weren't for the illustrations telling the story.

My family has recently lost a cat, a dear sweet old thing who was a good seventeen years old before dying, and when I saw this book it reminded me of her and her reactions when not only did we bring a new, much much younger cat into the house, but this new cat then also had kittens. When I told my kids what this was about they were so excited to read it and even said it made them think about their old cat. Pepper and Poe is about a well settled cat who has to deal with a new kitten taking over it's things!

I read this through once so I could get a good feel for the book and I must say that I love that neither Pepper nor Poe get a defined gender, so it is totally left up to the reader to decide if they are male or female. The language used is nice and simple, with nice short sentences so my older two kids will be able to actually read the story time and time again on their own, whilst the pictures are done so well that my youngest will be able to make up a similar story when she flips through the pictures.

This is a delightful book, my youngest is looking through it for at least the sixth time and we only got it a couple of hours ago. I personally enjoyed the book, I love the illustrations and how this little tale ends (and on a funny note too). A great book for the young ones.

Product image for The Scorpio RacesStay alive, stay astride, stay out of the water... Every November, the Scorpio Races are run beneath the chalk cliffs of Skarmouth. Thousands gather to watch the horses and the sea that washes the blood from the sand. The mounts are capaill uisce: savage water horses. There are no horses more beautiful, more fearless, more deadly.

To race them can be suicide but the danger is irresistible. Sean Kendrick knows the dangers of the ... more...
