I may have been living under a kitchen pan , and never realised that Simon Gault had a range of spices and seasonings , and when I saw this on KIWIreviews , thought I would like to try it . Having been to Morocco , I was excited and interested to see how closely the flavours matched. Upon receiving the seasoning blend , I straight away had a look at the back ingredients , and was delighted to see the Allergen warning on there . What I could not see - and for the reason that ( I am assuming ) other people may copy it , it does not actually say WHAT spices are in the blend .

The container itself is a nice looking one - with a smiley Simon on the front - looking at me from the cupboard shelf , urging me to create a great dish with it . ( the 5% magic included for sure ! ) It is a good sized 60 g , meaning you definitely get more than a few dishes out of it ! The container has a " sprinkle '' and '' pour '' allowing you to add as much or as little as you like to your cooking .

First smell - there was a strong curry type smell , and to be honest - I was immediately taken back to the souks atmosphere in Casablanca. The colour is vibrant - like the piles of spices we saw there , and there is a slight citrus tang - all of these rang true to Moroccan cooking .

The first thing the seasoning was used on was chicken - and oh my goodness - delicious !! It is such a great blend of flavours , and smells - and every bite was great. We have since gone on to use it with vegetables , and beef - all of which have been yum ! With vegetables other than potatoes / kumara / pumpkin , it pays to be a bit more generous - my guess is the water content in veggies tones the flavour down a little?

This is a great product, and I am looking forward to experimenting with others in the range!

i am a huge fan of Simon Gault so when I saw that this Moroccan flavour blend was up for review I grabbed the chance. My first impressions on the splice blend was that it comes in a larger mix than the other spice blends available and at $6.99 is not a bad price for the amount of uses per container as a little bit goes along way and I managed to get 6-7 meals from this one container.

The spice mix its self had a curry smell to it when I first opened the container however once cooked the smell changed and it definitely gave a moroccan taste to the food with a hint of citrus or as he says 5% magic.I decided to try this out over a few meals I made a roast beef covered in the Moroccan spice blend this was the best and most flavoursome roast beef I have cooked in a long time! I also have tired it out on a roast chicken that the family loved and in some scones to go alongside pumpkin soup made with the Moroccan flavour blend, over all I will continue to buy this it adds so much extra flavour to whatever you are cooking and the added bonus is I didn't have to add any extra salt to flavour my meals I recommend this to anyone who is looking to jazz up there weeknight meals without much fuss, I look forward to trying more from his range and adding that 5% magic to all my meals.

After noticing all the new Simon Gault products starting to appear in supermarkets I was really excited when this Moroccan Spice Blend came up for review. Coincidently, I had been talking with friends around the same time about using Moroccan Spice in cooking (at the time it was about another brand as I had just tried their lunch which they had used the spice mix in). I've always been a bit to scared to try any Moroccan Spice blend's in case they are too spicy for me and my husband but was pleasantly surprised that the flavour wasn't. After reassurances from them, I was all set to try Moroccan Spice in my own cooking when Simon Gault's version came up for review. Boy oh boy am I glad it did, this product is simply divine and as Simon's catch phrase goes - it definitely does give food that 5% extra magic!

On receiving this product and reading the label I was impressed with the ingredient list and so glad to see nothing terrible or nasty added in there. I also loved the fact that this product is something made in New Zealand, I always feel extra good when I can buy products that are made here in our own country. I also like that this product is essentially made, or designed by someone I know who he actually is (well as much as you can know a celebrity that is) and I am sure others out there will feel the same. After reading the label I had also decided I liked the idea of sprinkling this on veggies so my roast vegetables for dinner that night got well coated before cooking. After that first taste, I knew I was in big trouble, I was going to be hooked. Basically all I can say is YUM! Smile Icon It really is a simply amazing flavour that explodes your taste buds!

Over the following week and a bit I proceeded to use this seasoning in nearly every dinner I cooked! I therefore love the size container that this product comes in as it means it does last which has proved to be essential. I also think its great that there is the different options on the top of the container whether you pour out the seasoning or shake it out depending on how much seasoning you are needing. I used the pouring option when coating chicken breast before making pizza's and wraps which I found worked really well. I simply poured the desired amount on and rubbed into the chicken before pan frying. I loved that I could add so much extra flavour to something so simple without having to add a million different things or add a heap of fat or something else just as unhealthy for me and my family. No matter what I paired with the chicken, it always matched well and I could still taste the Moroccan flavouring.

Easily something I will be continuing to buy myself as well as recommend to friends and family. I highly recommend that you go out and buy some for yourself to try - you wont be disappointed and the price tag is totally worth the top quality product that this is!

When I asked to review Simon Gault's Moroccan seasoning, I didn't even know he had introduced a range of stocks and seasonings, I had only ever seen him on Masterchef and read his cookbooks, so I was really keen to give it a go.

The seasoning comes in a 60g tube, which is seems a lot bigger than other comparable seasonings, but the price is also larger so I'd say it would be reasonably priced at $6.99. When I opened the tube, I initially thought the smell was curry based but when I checked the ingredient list it said it contained citrus fruit peel which had me very intrigued.

Looking for ideas on how to use it in my cooking, I noticed on the label that it 'rocks' chicken, so I decided that I would combine five teaspoons of the seasoning with three tablespoons of teriyaki sauce and marinade diced chicken breasts in the morning before I left for work. I cooked the chicken for dinner in a non stick pan and added roast vegetables sprinkled with the seasoning as well. The smell in my kitchen while it was cooking was devine and all the family were looking forward to tasting their dinner. The chicken had lovely flavour and the extra kick of citrus made it quite different from anything we had had before.

After tasting this seasoning, I think it has a lot more uses that I'm yet to discover and I look forward to trying it in soup and casseroles. I would recommend this to all cooks looking to add a bit of extra spice to their cooking.

I am a huge fan of Simon Gault's seasonings, with my only complaint is that I get bored of the same flavours... so it is great that he has added this Moroccan seasoning to his range! Like his other seasonings, they have great flavours in a perfectly blended combination and it's certainly a Moroccan flavour blend - something that I wouldn't even know how to recreate with individual spices myself. And as Simon's tag line goes - it gives food that extra 5% magic.

In the last week or so, I've made the Moroccan cauliflower soup from Simon Gault's website on 2 different occasions and both times it has been very well received by all the guests. Even my husband loves it and he doesn't like cauliflower at all - that is great testament to the fact that the seasoning does it's thing and transforms the dish.

I haven't needed to add extra salt whenever I have used this seasoning, but neither have I ended up with anything too salty. You don't hold back when adding this - which means I can end up using it up quite fast, but I have no complaints on the price - I believe it's well worth what you pay and will happily continue to keep a full stock of Simon's range in my pantry. I highly recommend it and there is nothing I can score this low on - it's worth every bit of it's full 10 points.

I LOVE the Simon Gault range and recommend it to everyone who will listen. I'm yet to try something outof his range I don't love, you will always find a selection of Simon Gault product in my pantry. I have only just tasted the Moroccan blend and I am kicking myself I didn't try it much sooner.

When these seasoning promise you a certain flavour they certainly deliver and transform any meal. I decided to try it out on chops and roast vegetables, early morning I well covered my chops in the seasoning and left them for the day. At dinner time I threw some veges in the oven and gave them a light sprinkle of the seasoning. The smells as the veges and chops cooked were amazing!! I couldn't wait for everything to finish cooking so I could tuck in to it. I was a little worried that the seasoning I had rubbed into the chops may burn during cooking like lots of coatings do but it cooked perfectly.

The meal had all the taste of Moroccan you would expect the bends of spice were just perfect. While the chops had a great punch of flavour the veges were a little bit bland so I need to be a bit more heavy handed on it next time.

This is yet another product in the Simon Gault range that will be kept in the pantry and will be recommended to everyone. It really does add that 5% magic to your meals!
