Miss Eight and I loved the first two of the Ella Diaries and Miss Eight was absolutely desperate for I Love Pets to become available. This book three in the series did not disappoint. Al the diaries are written in different colours and this book is green. We both love Ella's style of Diary writing and this latest diary is really funny.

Ella writes out complete dialogues of conversation in such a hilarious way that one can only just love this. Miss Eight and I love all the little pictures and drawings and the hilarious way that Ella describes her drama's. Miss Eight really relates to Ella's trials and tribulations and I am pleased that the series has moved on from Ella and Olivia. I wonder if this will be a book that grows with my daughter and Ella is the new Adrian Mole.

The story line is very age appropriate with Ella deciding to have a pet walking business which Peaches tries to hijack. She has her rivalry with Peaches and I love the comeuppance that Peaches gets at the end of the diary for her very mean trick that she played on Ella and her friend.

If you enjoyed the previous two of Ella's dairies then you will love this as much as my Miss Eight and myself. We're now waiting for Dreams Come True with bated breath.

The best thing you can find as a parent, is a book series that your kid likes that then grows with your kid. The Ella and Olivia series of books, is like this because your new reader is reading those books. Then when the child is ready for more complex reading, along comes this series - Ella Diaries. This is the third book in this series and so far my daughter and I are loving them.

Ella writes her own diary. The layout is quite similar to a lot of other dairy style books on the market at the moment. In a lot of ways, it is a girl version of Tom Gates. Ella has a best friend, and a worst enemy at school. Plus she has her family, who we know from the other series. Ella is a bit older now as well, as are Olivia and their little brother Max.

In this book Ella has a career day and it's all about animals. This really peaked my daughter's interest as she is also very into animals. She flits from career idea to career idea, but it's always in biology or some kind. So she sat forward and asked lots of questions about the career day and the suggestions discussed.

Ella decides she wants to write fact files on animals and thinks she needs a new pet to have this happen. I thought it was neat that my daughter was shouting at the book, "no! Go to a pet shop, or the zoo! You don't have to have them in your home to study them. Go to the library". She had so many good ideas and she even wanted to try making her own fact files. It was neat to see her so engaged. I almost got the feeling that if Ella was at school with her, she would have been very keen to be her friend.

Ella's enemy at school is usually pretty silly and mean but this time around she was super nasty. I was not impressed by her trick that she plays. But it was good that things worked out in the end. While I thought some of the things Ella writes about Peach in the book were quite nasty too. I did relate more to why she feels the way she does, after what happens in this one. My daughter was really shocked too by it, even though we both suspected that she had done the thing she did before the big reveal.

This book was great. It kept us reading and we couldn't put it down. Tonight for example, I must have read 2/3s of it at bedtime because we wanted to know what would happen. For me to be that interested, is a good indicator of a good storyline.
