Dairy Milk Chocolate with flowing peppermint flavoured centre.
Product reviews...
I love peppermint and use it quite often in baked items, if i'm baking a chocolate item more often than not it will end up being either chocolate and caramel or chocolate and peppermint my 2 favourite flavour combinations. I've never really purchased blocks of peppermint chocolate before though to be honest as I do prefer milk chocolate over dark. But I was in a peppermint and chocolate mood and didn't feel like baking so decided to give this a try. Often when I feel like mint chocolate I will buy 1 or 2 York Peppermint Patties as they are small in size and so I don't get to put off by the dark chocolate surrounding the minty fondant center. On this particular day there was no option where I could go to buy these so the trial of the Peppermint Dairy Milk was to happen.
When I bit into the chocolate I noticed that the peppermint was green just like shown in the picture, usually I find that peppermint is white and that spearmint is usually green in colour so this was a bit surprise. The peppermint didn't have an overwhelming smell to it like some peppermint products do and rather than be like a hard fondant fudge like peppermint it was more of a thick flowing liquid. I have to admit it actually tasted REALLY good and better than I had expected, the peppermint wasn't over powering and actually complemented the dark chocolate really nicely. Though I don't think I could more than a row of the chocolate in one sitting as it is quite sweet.
I have purchased this chocolate since my first time trying it, but to use in baking rather than for eating as is. I have placed a piece into the center of chocolate cupcakes to make them choc mint and I have also used them to make chocolate mint brownies. Both were very yummy and had just the right hint of peppermint from the chocolate. I will definitely be buying more of this when I see it on sale, but it will most likely be put aside for baking.
I love peppermint in just about any form but hate dark chocolate with a passion so when I noticed this was made with dairy milk chocolate I just had to chance it and buy a block and see if I could finally have some decent tasting peppermint chocolate.
First thing I noticed was that it looked a lot like any other block of chocolate, there was no strong smell and it didn't stand out as anything special until I had a taste. The peppermint is not over powering and it well balanced with the chocolate and I'm pleased to say that yes it was actually dairy milk chocolate and not dark chocolate. I almost didn't give any to the others in the house to taste but I was generous (and I hadn't had a taste of any yet) but now I know it does actually taste really delicious I suppose I will have to buy some more to share.
I know a few people have issues with Cadbury but I have no problems with their products. I'm going to be brave and try some baking when I buy some more of this chocolate, my imagination is going wild at the thought of peppermint chocolate cake.
I am definitely going to be buying this product again and have everything crossed that it is not a limited time flavour as I like being able to actually enjoy some peppermint chocolate and not sit longing for some. No dark chocolate will ever cross my lips.
