It's the biggest case Secret Agents R Definitely NOT Us have ever seen. Wild animals are turning to a life of crime and it's all the work of evil Doctor Evil MacEvilness.
Can Secret Agent Derek 'Danger' Dale outwit a criminal mastermind, escape the clutches of the four most deadly creatures on the planet and save the world's biggest diamond? Extreeeeeeeemely unlikely!

I don't think I have ever laughed quite so much reading a kids book before! Right from start to finish there were lots of funny little moments throughout the whole book. All of which really appealed to my sense of humour! It made for an entertaining read and I found myself laughing out loud a number of times. My husband now wants to read the book just to see what I was finding so funny.
I also really love the cartoon style pictures throughout the entire book. You can almost tell whats happening in the story without even reading it, they match the story so perfectly. The illustrations add so much to the book. They are just as funny as the story it's self.
Now I'm done with the book I plan to hand it on to my 11 year old niece and I can see her enjoying it as much as I do. I can't wait to see what she thinks of it. I think it would also make a wonderful read together book for slightly younger children. I think Secret Agent Derek Dale would make an awesome series of books and I would be first in line to buy anymore that maybe released.
We finished reading this book last night after an epic week of reading. This book is set out like a comic book. There are panel drawings down one side and the prose is in blocks. There are natural ends and beginnings are punctuated with a change of time, day and scene. The pictures are cartoonish, and do a good job of conveying what is going on as well as the drama or emotion of the moment.
This book is funny! We were rolling about the bed laughing at some parts. My husband walked in one night and didn't leave until I stopped reading because it is quite entertaining. It's written like a comedy, and has a lot of slapstick action as well as witty banter between characters. It's ridiculous and hilarious.
It reminded me of a couple of kid's shows that I have watched with Miss 7 over the years like Phineas and Ferb or T.U.F.F Puppy Secret Agent Man. Both very funny in their own right. I would love to see Secret Agent Derek "Danger" Dale as a TV show.
When we finished reading this, my daughter was sad it was over. She asked if there were anymore by the same author and I didn't know, so that is something for us to find out together. Her favourite character was one of the baddies. But most of the characters are really likeable which is why she thought they were neat. I really liked Derek and his boss was funny too. I'm going to be on the look at for more by Bauer because I think he could well end up in our reading pile alongside Dav Pilkey.
