This is the forth book I have read (completely out of order) but it is the first book that I actually noticed that I had missed something. A character is brought into book 3 and a lot must happen so I couldn't get as involved with this book as the others. It was a slower pace as well and I was not riveted. It had its moments but was not as gripping as the other 3 books that I have read.

Beck goes on holiday with Peter and his family to an Indonesian jungle, where they are faced with an erupting volcano and lost in the middle of the jungle.

This book did make me very passionate about Orang-utan. It is so sad that there homes are being destroyed. They live in the trees like birds and build nests but once the tree is cut down they starve to death because no other female will let them into there territory. As the human population grows the jungles are shrinking because they are either cut down to make room for cities or because illegal logging is being carried out. Bear Grylls makes his point so passionately but doesn't ram it down your throat he just slowly talks through his point. He is a brilliant writer.

I found the jungle to be rather tedious and I much preferred when they escaped it and were stuck on the beach. I did not know that the freshest water you could ever drink is straight after a swamp as its natures way of purifying the water. Or if you are unlucky to stand on a sea urchin breaking the tentacles will leave it inside of your body but it will slowly break down and just give you more calcium. Also peeing on it stops some of the infection and sting.

Although it has not stopped me from reading more. I think I will try and read more in an order. Having read two, four, six and seven I am interested to see what else I can learn.
