"Yay! EJ!" was my daughters response when I showed her Puppy Alert, and she didn't want to waste any time, quickly running outside to grab her brother so I could read it to them.

I have to say, I can't get over the colours on the cover LOL Icon so appealing and it keeps drawing my eyes in, I want to know what colour it is and paint my house with it!!! On the back cover there is website, going on it there is some information about the author and illustrator, and much to my kids delight there is a memory game (using things from the books) and some fun colouring in pages as well to do.

Emma has to work out some codes in this book, which was a good introduction to my kids and afterwards I could hear Mr 6 and Miss 4 creating their own codes and playing a game involving codes and breaking them. A good lesson in here, which will hopefully roll over into the real world, is that if you can feel an animals heart beating very fast, they're scared, a good lesson for any child to learn. The story was fun and the kids enjoyed it as Emma worked out how to rescue the puppies.

Another fun read in the Spy School series.

Having really enjoyed book three Secret Spy in this EJ Spy School series we were all really looking forward to reading Puppy Alert and finding out what Emma's next mission and Spy Lesson was going to be.

Miss Seven had read this by herself and liked it, going straight from this to reading EJ12 Shine books. Miss Six and Miss Three and I snuggled up and after reading Secret Spy went straight into this. Like the preceding books this book has a large font and black and white illustrations on almost every second page. This book was rated very cool by Miss Six as in this lesson EJ has to learn how to read and break codes. Miss Six loved the concept and she really enjoyed the pages that had the codes on it and trying to figure out what the codes were. She hadn't known about codes before so we were able to talk about different codes and will have to make some up ourselves!

This story really appealed not just about the code cracking but also because it was about puppies and EJ had to rescue the puppies once we found them. Miss Six and Miss Three both liked that and this story line really appealed to them both. They liked that Emma was really kind and how she wanted to look after the injured puppy.

A brilliant book and probably our favourite of the four we have read so far. I would like it to be priced at under $10 but would still definitely recommend this book.
