I won this book as part of a book prize pack and I'm glad I have some more of this series. I really did enjoy reading about the mouse adventures but I did find the asterisks and the information was a bit off putting. I know it is often done that way but first time I have come across it in a story book and although I didn't know most of what was told in the information I still found it annoying as I'm the kind of person who has to go and read the footnote immediately even if it means interrupting my story.

I think the pictures in the book are great, the illustrator does a fantastic job and I'm not even bothered by the funny fonts and colours but I"m starting to look for them now. I find that I can read the entire book in about half and hour to 45 minutes and that most the time the story is flowing.

I know there are heaps more books in this series and spin off series and I'm looking forward to reading as many as possible. I think that the writers and illustrators should be congratulated as this is a fantastic effort and I know a few young kids who are loving hearing the adventures and the older kids are tying to read it for themselves.

I know it says for 7 - 10 years of age but even my four year old is loving the stories.

My Miss Seven is an avid reader and looks forward to reading Thea Stilton books. She was straight onto this when I brought it home.

Miss Seven thinks that it is really good. She writes "I liked the story about trying to find the man and about the black tulip. I didn't know flowers could be breed or what a hybrid was. I learnt about Holland but I haven't been there yet. The book was a mystery but there was a lot of information about different places in Holland and lots of things about flowers and how to buy them. There are lots of pictures in the book and they are in colour. My sisters liked looking at all the pictures."

This was our favourite Thea Sister book that we have read to date. I loved the way this was structured and as well as being a mystery with little clues and questions the book actually had a surprising amount of factual information in it. Miss Seven and her sisters learnt about a lot of things "Dutch" as well as learning about scientific facts like cross breeding and how to sort out your information and make use of it to solve the mystery.

Whilst this book utilises the same formula as all the Thea Stilton books (which can feel a bit samey) with its use of colorful and different styles of font and size it did seem to be just that much better than others we have read. The amount of information in the book was brilliant and my girls really enjoyed learning so many new facts. It also provided a good platform to talk about different concepts specific to other cultures as well.

It can be hard to encourage children to read books based purely on fact so I think this style of mixing what is obvious fiction (rodents as main characters) with really interesting factual information is brilliant. The way that the information is presented and weaved through the story is so skillfully done and ensures that the book is really interesting as well and definitely holds my little misses attention. I will continue to encourage her to read these books as I see them as a good compromise between just reading for pleasure and actually learning from reading in a relevant way.

This is definitely worthy of a ten and I can definitely recommend it. Even if (well definitely if) you haven't read a Thea Stilton book before this is a great one to start on. I look forward to the next installment!

As a bed time read this was really enjoyable for both of my girls. There is quite a bit of action and there is the classic bad people and of course the Thea Sisters. I love how there is different font through out the book and the pictures are great. My two year old gets a lot out of the pictures and helps her understand the story more. The chapters are only a couple of pages long so we read a couple a night, which kept the girls eagerly wanting more.

Violet is in Amsterdam with an Arts sturdy course and a local students father goes missing so she rings her friends and together they solve the mystery. It is fast paced for a child's book but I like the way it has little recaps so the girls don't miss anything to much. At the bottom of the page you get little footnotes about the various places or books. Its a fantastic tool to keep everyone up to speed with what is happening and where.

This book would be great for anyone just learning how to read. It is a great series for pre-teens and we are learning a bit about the world. I find the use of the mouse terms to be so cute and so beneficial it goes with the story perfectly its "mousetacular". This would definitely be my favourite so far in the series that we have read, I found it really interesting hearing about Holland and also how flower colours are created. My only question is 'we are reading about mice, so how do they have a dog for a pet?'
