This is one of those products that you aren't too sure what to expect if you don't know anything about cheese and I will have to put my hand up and admit I had no idea what Fenugreek was. And I am a little bit gutted I ate this one last out of the three types I had I'll explain why in a bit.

When you look at the cheese there is a whole bunch of seeds throughout it, and this is where the flavour comes from, but instead of being a hard kind of seed they are soft and hardly noticeable when eating.

The flavour then hits you, and it is great. I liked this cheese a lot and can see why it has won a lot of awards. It's hard for me to put into words the taste of it, but you just want more of it. I tried it on crackers and also in a pie and it added such a great flavour.

This is a cheese that I will definitely buy again and I suggest you go out and try this cheese. As far as cheeses go this is my new favourite and I am looking forward to introducing it to other people I know.

When I was given Meyer's Fenugreek cheese to review I will admit I had never heard of fenugreek before. I thought it might be a Greek style cheese with fennel in it. That guess was wrong as a quick Google search taught me that fenugreek is a herb used in Indian cooking. Due to curiosity this was the first of the three Meyer cheeses that I opened.

The cheese has a seeds pale orange seeds throughout it but these are not noticable when eating it. It has a smooth texture and a quite mild taste. Since it was recommended for a cheese board I thought we would start by eating the cheese on its own so I gave each of us (Miss 4, Miss 5.5, my husband and myself a few cheese cubes on their plate with dinner. Everyone of us ate the cheese first and both my girls looked at the other plates to see if there was any more they could steal. Sadly for them there was none. It is save to say it was a hit with our family.

The other night I came home late and the rest of the family had eaten and I needed to organise something quickly for myself before the munchies hit and I filled up on rubbish. I decided to make a salad using up lots of bits in the fridge. There was a cold cooked kumara, a sausage, capsicum, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and of course cubes of fenugreek cheese. The combinations of the textures and flavours of the ingredients meant that the salad didn't require a dressing. The cheese was so creamy compared to the other things. This was the perfect meal for a hot summer evening.

As a family we are big cheese eaters but it is usually the cheapest block or processed cheese slices. We really appreciated the quality of the cheese and will enjoy this as an occasional treat.

When I received this in my random selection of cheeses for the Meyer Cheese review I was really pleased. Of all the ones listed on their website, this one sounded like it was going to be the one for me. And I could not have been more right. I love the taste of Fenugreek, and teamed with a creamy cheese, it was absolutely delicious.

We had a dinner party here the other night, and I did a cheese board of the three cheeses that I received. For me, this was the stand-out winner of the board. Others placed it at an easy second, but they preferred a a sharper bite to their cheese. This is a cheese to guzzle and frankly if I had no self-control whatsoever, I wouldn't have made or done anything special with this cheese. Simply put, I would have stood at the counter and just gorged myself on it.

Luckily for all of us, I did have some self control and only gorged on 1/3 of it. The other 2/3s I put to use. The first thing I made was a pizza. I used Farrah's Wraps to get a stuffed base, but this time only stuffed with pizza sauce. Then on the pizza itself, I added pizza sauce, pineapple, salami, ham and thin strips of this cheese. I enjoyed my pizza immensely, and though there were a lot of flavour in there I could still happily detect the Fenugreek.

Next up I made an apple and Fenugreek Gouda crumble. I figured the flavour combo would be fine, since you get pear and blue cheese together. This was an interesting one. I took chunks of granny smith apple, grown on our tree, and then layers in some thin cuts of the gouda. On top I added a crumble mix, of brown sugar, butter and Hubbards muesli. I baked this and served it plain. The flavour of the Fenugreek was present. The cheese was a good compliment to the apple and the caramelised cheese was good too. The cheese itself cut the sweet of the crumble mixture making it all quite balanced.

Overall, I just loved this cheese. This is the one that would make me go out and buy. I'll be checking into getting my next block just as soon as I can. My youngest daughter felt the same as me, and whenever she spied me in the kitchen cutting a little off, she would be there with her hand out. Cheeky girl.
