Good Night, Sleep Tight product reviews

In this sweet story that's just perfect for bedtime reading, Bonnie and Ben's favourite babysitter tells them nursery rhymes at bedtime, including "It's raining! It's pouring! The old man is snoring"; "This little piggy went to market"; and more. Bonnie and Ben enjoy the stories so much that they don't want to go to sleep; they want to hear each one again! Instead the babysitter tells them new nursery rhymes until, finally, all three of them fall fast sleep.

When I first got this book I thought it would be just another kids book about children going to sleep and the journey that takes them to bed but it isn't like that at all, well eventually it is but it's done in a very creative way with the use of nursery rhymes.

My daughter loved the repetition of the words "We love it, we love it! How does it go? Will you say it again" and "Some other time, but I'll tell you another I heard from my mother" as it was something in the story which she could participate with right throughout the book. I did think that maybe they could have made the first phrase rhyme a bit like the second phrase though.

I really liked how the nursery rhymes are illustrated and how the illustrator made one picture for each rhyme with the two little children and their babysitter implanted in the story, I thought that was quite cute and made it feel like the kids were really involved.

The book itself is a very solid board book so hard for little hands to destroy which is always a bonus in my house as my 2 year old had a tendency to "accidentally" rip pages. All in all, this book is very well put together and a would make a great little gift for a babysitter to give to one of their charges for a birthday or Christmas.

We all have our own bedtime routines with our children for me nothing beats snuggling up after a warm bath with a book before sending the children off to dream land. My son who is nearly 2 just loves books and always wants just one more before going to bed. When I saw this book I thought it would be just perfect for a bedtime story, we didn't have any books specifically about bedtime so this seemed perfect to me!

It is a real sweet story about Bonnie and Ben being put to bed by their babysitter Skinny Doug. Skinny Doug tells them a nursery rhyme but they love it so much they just want to hear one more, much like my monkey and his just one book more! There are some real classic nursery rhymes in the book like "This little piggy went to market" and "Round and Round the Garden". It is cool to see nursery rhymes in use in a modern book I think nursery rhymes should never become out dated.

A few of the nursery rhymes I have said to my son many times he loves "This Little Piggy Went to Market" played on his toes with a tickle at the end when the piggy cried wee wee all the way home. So we had to do this after we read the story. It also had "Pat a Cake" which we always say when making sand castles in the sandpit! There was one rhyme I hadn't heard of so it was good learning a new rhyme about the way Ladies and Gentlemen ride their horse!

For me the first one "Good night sleep tight, don't let the fleas bite" should of been the one that became the last in the lot of rhymes only because it is what I say to my kids too except I say bed bugs and would always be the last thing I say before leaving their room. Skinny Doug does eventually tell the children good night sleep tight though before they finally go to sleep and Doug himself falls asleep on the couch. I tell you sometimes I know just how Doug is feeling lol.

We have never had to use a babysitter before so my son wouldn't know what one is but it could be a good book for children who have babysitters tucking them up at night to read with their babysitter. Both my son and the 3 year old I care for really liked the book, and the 3 year old pointed out that I am his babysitter so I think he quite liked that.
