We have been buying the Wattie's range of Ready to Serve Tortellini products for a few years now. I first started buying this for my partners dinners on days where he was working from 2pm to 10pm, he loves pasta and these seemed to be the best way in which he could heat and enjoy such a product, they are roughly the same price as frozen meals so I considered them to be a reasonable price.

My partner loves both mushrooms and bacon as do i, so it is really no surprise that this was the first in the range that I purchased. The pasta had a very strong smell, most of what I could smell was that of the three cheese sauce, the sauce was very thick and cheesey and it had small pieces of both bacon and mushroom throughout it, though I could taste both the mushroom and bacon I would have liked to of seen more, which is what my partner also thought, however in general both the pasta and sauce were tasty so it doesn't loose points for lacking in this department.

The pasta comes in a foil bag which is very easy to tear open. To heat you need to pour the pasta into a microwave safe bowl and then heat in the microwave for 2minutes, this makes it such a quick and simple dinner, lunch or snack that can be enjoyed any time of the day. This pasta dish can easily be bulked up and turned into more of a main meal if needed by adding different meats and vegetables, something I have done in the past. My favourite things to add to those are extra mushrooms and bacon which is super yummy if baked in the oven with a generous sprinkling of cheese.

This is a fantastic product to have on had in our pantry, several flavours of this range have dissapeared from supermarket shelves, however I hope this one stays.

This is my go-to quick and easy meal that I enjoy as a hassle free delicious hot lunch option or snack when I am am wanting something a little bit special. I love the mushroom flavour and the creamy cheese sauce...I wish there was more bacon but I love bacon and always want more. I like the convenience of the foil pack which allows me to squeeze out every little morsel of pasta and creamy sauce into my bowl.

There is more than enough in the one pack to feed me satisfactorily but I have made a larger portion of this meal by adding extra bacon and cooked onion and stretched the contents out to feed 2 to 4 people as a side dish for a dinner meal. The flavours within the pack wasn't affected at all by me adding the extra food..the mushroom flavour and the cheese sauce flavour were still there and still a hit in my opinion.

These packs are always on special at my supermarket which is a bonus and I always make sure I have packs in my pantry for lunches as they just take 2 minutes in the microwave to heat to perfection and when I only have 30 minutes for lunch sometimes every minute counts and when something is as yummy as this creamy mushroom and bacon tortellini I would rather spend my time eating it then watching it cook in the microwave!!

Another bonus about this pack is that it is fresh pasta in the foil packet....not dried pasta in a plastic packet.. The fresh pasta takes next to no time to cook and it is a no brainer really, the pasta is cooked already so I don't have to worry about biting into a crunchy bit of pasta because I haven't cooked it long enough!

Another thing I have tried with this is to empty the contents into an oven dish, sprinkle over grated cheese and bake it until the cheese has melted and is golden and within minutes I have created a pasta bake! Something a little but fancy with minimal effort! I love it...I will continue to buy them as long as my supermarket keeps stocking them!

I have been trying all the Tortellinis in this range recently, as I have only just discovered them. For less than $5 they seem to make a pretty hearty lunch for at work. As it is winter, you start to need a warming meal, that is going to be filling and will stop you filling up on chocolate. So I bought a selection of these and thought I would review them here for you.

The mushroom and bacon flavour was probably the one I was most looking forward to. I love mushrooms. My husband hates them. Therefore my chances of enjoying mushrooms at home are lessened. As a result I do go out of my way to select meals outside of the home that have mushrooms in or on them. I had this for lunch today. Like the other packets, you rip the top open and squeeze the whole contents into a microwave safe bowl or container.

I used a plate and I covered it as well to stop any splatters. The paper towel did soak up some of the sauce. I cooked it for 2 minutes and then sat with my meal. The overall look of the meal was appealing. The smell was strong, and I'm sure I could smell the blue vein cheese which had been very much hidden in all the other flavours I had tried. The sauce was really salty, with the tiny bacon pieces and the mushroom. The blue cheese flavour was definitely present, though it was not overpowering.

A nice meal and very filling. However, because of the salt factor, I would maybe take some white bread to have with this. That would have helped even out the flavours.

Simply heat sauce in fry pan, cook fresh pasta in a big pot of boiling water for three minutes, drain and toss into sauce, adding a big knob of butter to bring it all together. Serve with plenty of herbs and parmesan. Mamma Mia! These will please the children and adults alike.
