Once my girls had sampled both Marcel's chocolate chip hotcakes and apple and cinnamon hotcakes I asked them which one was their favourite and they both told me the apple ones. When I offered them some again today they couldn't sit at the table fast enough.

Yesterday I warmed the hotcakes in the toaster for the girls and served them with ice cream. For myself I had it straight from the packet. It had a very nice apple taste but I was surprised to read on the packet that it was apple flavoured pieces (what these pieces were made of it didn't say). The cinnamon flavour was only a hint but the cinnamon scent was evident when warmed.

Today wanting a bit more cinnamon with my hotcakes I spread it with butter and cinnamon sugar. I then warmed it in the microwave. The packet didn't suggest how long to warm it for so I did 20 seconds for each one. With my powerful microwave I probably could have been better with15 seconds as it was too hot to eat immediately. I gave my girls one each as well as one for me. We all ate them greedily. They then asked for more and grizzled when I told them they were all gone.

It is safe to say these were a hit with us. They would be great as a weekend brunch or dessert. I think next time I will get two packets so my husband can have some too.

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of the plain hotcakes, but this and the chocolate chip hotcakes are GREAT!! This one was my favourite of the two, it had a very sweet, tangy, fruity taste that was absolutely gorgeous. Even now I am not sure of ALL the reasons that makes this flavour the best, but I fancied this one more than I did the chocolate. Now, I didn't just eat these on their own, I always had them with the chocolate chip hotcakes, it was always 2 apple cinnamon, 2 chocolate.

The hotcakes were rather good, 4 of these would make a good, filling breakfast, so they aren't something where a whole pack is only about as filling as a snack. The number of cakes per packet was great, 6 in total. The cakes were very addictive, I had 2 of these each day, so in 3 days both these and the chocolate ones were long gone, which is a good thing, sort of. The quality was good, I think that they were very tasty and not in any way off-putting, which probably explains why they were so addictive.

They were rather rich, so I wouldn't want to be having these on a regular basis, but they are good for a treat. The price is wonderful, it is cheap, yet it is put on a product that has good taste, great portion size and a high addiction level. All in all, great product, loved them very much.

Of all the hotcakes I have tried over the years, both bought and home-made, these have to be the best yet! I adore the taste of apple and cinnamon in sweet desserts - eg. pies, cakes, muffins and the like - so to have that wonderous flavour packed right into these as well... amazing!

These didn't even last long enough for me to snap off photos, they smelled that good! They also tasted even better! I tried them over three nights, having them a different way each time.

The first night, they were popped in the toaster, to heat them and give them a tasty crispness. They were then served with a layer of French Vanilla ice-cream sandwiched between them and dowsed with hot maple (flavoured) syrup. An absolute treat!

The second time, I sandwiched sliced banana and a sprinkle of brown sugar between them, and then popped them in the microwave until they were nice and hot. Served with a little fruit salad and whipped cream, these were amazing!

Lastly, rounding out the 6-pack, I cut these into cubes and soaked them in a chocolate cream liqueur for an hour. I then layered these in a glass with some cubes of set lemon jelly and some whipped chantilly cream, then topped it off with some shaved dark chocolate and a touch of freshly grated nutmeg. This was by far one of my best experiments yet.

Overall, these are just great hotcakes. If I ever learn how to make them (successfully) myself, I think I would be a very popular invitee to any Bring-a-Dish dinner or BBQ. LOL Icon

I recently was selected to receive a packet of these Apple and Cinnamon Hotcakes by Marcel's. I was intrigued with the idea of pre-cooked store bought flavoured pancakes. Whenever I try to make flavoured pancakes at home, they usually turn out for the worst. The mixture is too sticky and I can't flip it. Or the mixture is too runny, and I can't flip it. Either way, I end up with a massive mess served warm with maple syrup.

The Apple and Cinnamon flavour was the first one we tried out of the two we were offered. The first thing I did was a simple breakfast meal. I heated the hotcakes in the microwave and served with a little maple syrup. My eldest daughter was not that sold on the flavour. She usually likes fruit, especially apples but I think the cinnamon taste put her off a little. My 1 year old enjoyed her hotcake a lot and helped her sister eat hers.

The next thing I did was serve these cold in their lunchboxes. I made hotcake fingers as an alternative to the extra sandwich they usually get. Again, eldest ate some but left most of the fingers in her lunchbox to bring home for her sister. My 1 year old apparently loved her hotcake fingers.

The last thing I did with these was a special breakfast for my baby today, and morning tea for me. Using a cookie cutter I made hotcake rabbits and offered them to her. She loved the shapes and ate the lot. I took some of the offcuts to work with me as a morning tea snack as well. I enjoyed the apple taste, even though I'm not a huge fan of apple. I did find that with the fruit in the hotcake the product was a bit moister than normal. These hotcakes are delicious served with yoghurt, and they would be great with some hot custard for a winter dessert too.
