A delicious blend of chicken formed into rings and coated with a crunchy crumb. Fun for kids - great for a snack or as a main meal component.
Product reviews...
Tegel products are usually quite a high quality, even there processed products such as their chicken nuggets and Tegel takeouts so I thought that these chicken loopys may be worth trying, my 2 year old daughter had been going through a fussy stage of not wanting to eat much at all, so I thought the ring shape may appeal to her.
Well, I was right in regards to the Tegel chicken loopys appealing to my daughter she loved them and couldn't get enough of them and kept asking for me, well I have to admit on this particular day I was more than happy to let her help herself to my plate as I found these to be disgusting! I was so disappointed biting into these, it was as though they were not chicken at all I couldn't find anything to resemble the taste of chicken on my plate that is for sure! They tasted like some sort of chicken mash, coated in a thick layer of crispy golden bread crumbs (the bread crumbs being the best part of the product), for this reason they really didn't appeal to me at all.
If I was comparing these to all of the yummy chicken products on the market from Tegel I would have to wonder how they went wrong with the loopys, they are cheap in comparison but the quality just really isn't there, the bag is smaller than the 1 kg bags the nuggets and bites come in, so for the price and amount you get it is well worth paying the little bit extra for a decent product, I wouldn't ever serve these up at a child's party and to be honest these went int he bin as I didn't feel like I could feed these to my daughter again, as they only contain 36% chicken.
I definitely wouldn't buy these again, nor would I recommend, as soon as you would over cook them they look as thought they would be dry and hard one thing you couldn't leave in the oven a second longer.
In todays extremely stressful and busy lifestyle, I am first to readily admit that when it comes to meal times I am often running late and having to find quick and easy foods that can be on the table quickly and without fuss. Of course this often means that a lot of the time, as parents, we are left feeling let down and sad because we have not put a good nutricious meal on the table for our loved ones :(
As much as we all want to serve vegetables and things to our children (family) every night, this is often just not possible. With after school, activities, jobs, sports, and other things, for the majority of us most of our eating is done in a rush and most of our meal shopping or preparation is done between jobs or on the run. I discovered chicken loopys during one of these occassions.
I had popped into the local supermarket on my way home from my sons after-school basketball game. These games always seem to be scheduled starting between 4.30pm and 6pm, lord knows why. I had popped in to grab some chicken nuggets and a side dish of some sort. Grabbing the bag of chicken nuggets I noted chicken loopys werw on special. Wanting to save a few dollars I grabbed them.
Sadly I wish I had grabbed the nuggets lol chicken loopys are not very nice at all :( and if you do not watch them carefully and end up over cooking them they become a crispy hard chewing circle of yuck lol I was reallydissapointed in them. The only good points are they are easy, convenient and you do get heaps in a bag. But that is pretty much it. Oh they are handy as a party food though lol :)
Well these are made by Tegel and they are called chicken loopys so I guess that is enough to say they are chicken but to me it looks nothing like chicken inside the breadcrumbs being a blended sort of chicken mash. I find it totally unappealing but my daughter being a junk food fanatic thinks these are absolutely great.
Compared to other chicken products in the tegel range like the nuggets and the party bites these are really cheap so are good value for money. They are a much smaller packet than the chicken nuggets though which come in 1kg packets. My daughter loves them for their shape mostly as she is fan of all the novelty shaped products like the zoo animal nuggets.
The thing that concerns me is that they are only 36% chicken and the rest is all crumbs, and colour, and flavour enhancers, and thickeners so I don't think these are very good for you at all! My partner won't eat products that have MSG in them most of the time as he thinks it affects his sleep patterns but I haven't noticed this when my daughter eats these.
In total honesty I don't buy these very often as I think they are pretty gross but my daughter does sometimes manage to get them into the trolley when we are doing our shopping.
