A Christmas tale that would make a beautiful treasured story to read in the weeks/days leading up to Christmas. The Gift cleverly teaches little lessons on caring, sharing, sadness, happiness and thinking of others as well as themselves. The Gift is a gorgeous hardcover book that has stood up to multiple readings and little fingers. ( I wasn't allowed to put it away with the decorations). Uncluttered, beautifully illustrated pages that draw you into the story and a storyline that is easy to follow and not overly wordy.

A tale of a little bear and other toys in a Christmas shop hoping their wishes of a new home for Christmas come true, you will have to read the story with your someone/s special to see what happens in this enchanting story. The Gift is an expensively priced book but should be apart of every home. I sure if you can get it away from the children it would make a beautiful Christmas heirloom.

I was lucky enough to win this book... which was a real bonus because I was very surprised at the retail price of this book.... very expensive!! Yes it is a quality book, with a hard cover and glossy pages but still the price is steep for a picture book, and I know if I saw this book in a store I wouldn't buy it because of the price!

Getting away from the price now the book was a great read, the story line was a happy but sad story then back to a nice happy ending.... the underlining moral of the story in my opinion is a great lesson for young children to think about their friends' well-being and happiness before their own sometimes.

The pictures and the details of the characters in the book are amazing, very colourful and vibrant, but at the same time understated just like the little brown bear. The writer draws the reader in with her imagination and I for one was anxious to turn to the next page to see what toy was next sold and I actually found myself holding my breathe and wishing with little brown bear for the baby to choose him and take him to his forever home.... nearly bought a tear to my eye as I remember my teddy bear from my childhood.... a much loved treasure!!

The book is set around Christmas time but I think the book can be read each and every day of the year...it would just be more special read around Christmas time. Despite the price I would recommend this book as it is a great read and is well suited to children and parents alike.

We all love a good Christmas story, especially if it has a happy ending :) and as it is the silly season the timing for receiving this book couldnt have been better. My 6yo is all about Christmas right now, so naturally she loved the pictures and the chrissy theme. I loved that it had a hard cover LOL Icon as i always feel hard covered books last longer and i could tell this one would become well loved.

The story of a plain little brown bear with a red ribbon in a shop surrounded by Christmas fare, oh how he longs to find his forever home, but as its Christmas time and he's far from Christmassy his hopes dwindle. But he's not alone for beside him is a green crocodile who like the bear is not very Christmassy either. Feeling sad about just being big and green, the bear gifts his red ribbon to the crocodile and before long the crocodile finds his forever home.

To find out what happens to the bear you will have to read the book :) it is a delightful story of caring, sharing, sadness and joy. My girl and i love it! I personally would possibly not spend $29.00 on it, but as it is a favourite if it ever needed replaced i would be swayed into buying it quite easily. Definitely a lovely book to own.

This is a hardback book beautifully presented with a lovely cover. The illustrations are beautiful and very Christmassy. This is a delightful story of a teddy bear who befriends a crocodile and along with the gift of friendship also gives his friend the chance to be bought. The moral of this story is the value of giving and friendship and how that pays back its dividends.

This is a lovely Christmas story and perfect for a preschooler. My Miss Four and Miss One love this story and I have had to read it repeatedly every night since we have had it. I think it will be well worn out by the time Christmas arrives. The pictures certainly captivate my girls attention and it has been a platform to talk about the importance of giving rather than receiving as well as that a good heart is so much better than being all fancy with bells and whistles. At $29.00 this is an expensive story however and worth looking out for in soft cover or on special.

A lovely book for Christmas that may well become a timeless classic to be read year after year.
