This was our first introduction to Creepella from the Geronimo Stilton family of book series. My daughter loves Geronimo, but is not quite a fan of Thea Stilton books. We have tried the fantasy series which is great as well as Cave Mice. However, we had never had an opportunity to read about Creepella. When we saw this at her school's book fair recently, she decided she had to have it.

She loved that the cover of the book looks spooky. I wasn't too sure how scary things would get, but I figured that Geronimo hadn't let me down in the past so I took the small risk. The book is filled with monsters, but they are harmless seeming. They looks a bit scary but they are all lovely creatures. My daughter was not scared at all.

This is essentially another mystery type story. There is a main plot, around Gorgo the swamp monster being in love. Then there is the mystery of trying to track down his love interest. There is a separate subplot to do with one of the main characters in the book, this doesn't seem to go anywhere. These kind of segways to "comedy" happen a little in Geronimo too so I was use to it. But most adults would have wondered what was going on and what the point of it was. Still that whole bit sparked some imaginative play with me and my daughter, so no complaints.

Overall a pretty good read, that kept us entertained. My daughter loved the characters and has said she would quite like us to read more about Creepella and her friends. I don't mind because they are fairly cheap and last at least a week of bedtime story-time.

The Von Cacklefur Family's moat monster 'Gorgo' is not feeling well :( How do they know? He normally has a bottomless pit for a stomach but won't even even eat his favourite foods, rotten garbage, smelly shoes or rusty old bicycles! Creepella Von Cacklefur calls a family meeting and finds out from Grandma Crypt that Gorgo is in love with a Famous Horrorwood Actress called Blobbina.

They decide to help Gorgo confess his love for Blobbina by writing her a love letter, but when delivering it, realise that she has vanished. So with the help of Billy Squeakspeare (the romance novelist from book 1), Creepella Von Cacklefur set out to find her.

It leads them on a scary adventure of monsters, ghosts, love & marriage and an evil doctor. Of course I can't say if they find Blobbina or cure Gorgo's love sickness...you'll have to read it for yourself!

This book is as colourful, a lot of fun and enjoyable as the first book in the series (actually we enjoyed it even more than book one). My son is only 5 and a half and we read a few chapters a night. Even though he can't read the books himself yet, he loves the colourful. descriptive pictures and words. He especially likes the 'spooky. names and phrases throughout the book.

My son and I can't wait to read about Creepella's next adventure: 'Ghost Pirate Treasure', because after you enjoy one, like us, you will want the whole collection!

As with the other Geronimo Stilton books this won't fail to disappoint Creepella Von Cacklefur fans.

Creepella goes off to Horrorwood with Billy Squeakspeare to solve the mystery of the missing monster Blobbina with whom her own monster Gorgo is completely smitten. As with the other books this is littered with very colourful illustrations on every page and lots of colourful words in different typeset.

My Miss Nine reader loves these books and is completely into the Geronimo Stilton books. These books are a great change from fairies, horses and princesses and are written in such a gentle way with a lovely values based undertheme.

If you are looking for something a bit different this could well be the series you are after. My Miss Five enjoys these books being read to her though probably better suited to age 6/7 years up and they would probably interest up to age 12/13 years.

Product reviews for listing 2135: The Cat with No Name -  Author: Sher Foley, Illustrated by Brian Lovelock

Product image for The Cat with No NameOnce, not so very long ago, there was a small cat without a name. He also had no home, apart from a cardboard box under a motorway bridge in the middle of the big city.

A lovely childrens story about love and acceptance.
