Cuzzie and Bro - The Story of Twin Piglets product reviews

Proud to promote NZ productsCuzzie and Bro is the adventure story of twin piglets born in a litter of ten on a farm bordering To Urewera National Park. The tiny twins are trampled by their siblings in the fight for food, and Mrs Tama - the farmer's wife - is forced to take the undersized and weak piglets into her care and hand-rear them.

Life on the farm with their barnyard friends and playful school children is idyllic for the twins. That is until tragedy strikes and everything changes.

This is something quite unique, a true Kiwi fairytale I guess you could call it. Despite the title, the story mainly revolves around one of the twin piglets, Cuzzie, as his adventures begin from the moment of birth, right through to discovering his destiny lies outside the bounds of the back yard fence.

Written by a Kiwi with first-hand experience of pigs, and a lifetime of experience on a working farm, this tale is full of actual information, to sit alongside the fantastic exploits of Cuzzie in the Cloud Forest.

A hardcover book, this is sturdy enough for younger kids to read on their own, though I wouldn't recommend letting really young one get their hands on it. The pictures inside are a bit of an eclectic mix, ranging from 'old family photo'-style through to photoshop-composites, but by far the most lovely shots were those by Jason Searle, a notable NZ wildlife photographer.

Overall, this is something quite unique, and if you have #8 wire in your heart and Tomato Sauce in your veins, then this is definitely a book you'll want to have on hand for your kids.

Product image for HumanityDarien is no longer a lost outpost of humanity, but the prize in an intergalactic power struggle. Hegemony forces control the planet, while Earth merely observes, rendered impotent by galactic politics. Yet Earth's ambassador to Darien will become a player in a greater conflict as there is more at stake than a turf war on a newly discovered world.
