Have not been here for a few months, it tends to be one of our summer spots for a weekend lunch. The food is very good and the seats at the back swivel which brings out your inner child. They are very small though. The patrons in here are either teenagers eating the very good fish and chips or people who have travelled and are reliving their food experience.
It is also a good spot for families as the menu is so varied and the chips always taste better when stolen from a child. My favourite thing to have in here is the fresh spring rolls, they are huge, very tasty and satisfying. There are many other dishes I would like to try and now my memory has been jolted and my child eats Asian food, I will have to go back.
On a recent business trip to the Windy City, I stumbled across this place while heading back to the car. Noticing it was getting a bit late, and I still had a 2 hour drive ahead of me, I decided to grab a quick dinner... the only problem was, trying to decide from the huge menu kinda removed the whole 'quick' from the equation.
In the end, I decided to try their "Beef Curry with Rice", since I wasn't in the mood for fried stuff... while I waited, I was directed to the seating area at the back of the store. The tables were dinky, but the seats were horrendous... too small, and thus quite uncomfortable. However, the wait was short, and I eventually found a seat that was comfortable'ish... and started to tuck into the yummiest-smelling plate of food...
The steamed rice was bland, but that was perfect, since the beef curry was full of flavour, without being overly spicy. They complimented each other to a tee. The beef was tender, it literally fell apart in mouth... the carrots were sweet, with a hint of bite still in them, just the way I like them... the potatoes were nice and soft, and had soaked up the delightful curry flavour.
Overall, for $9.00 it was a great meal... the portions were generous, the food was flavoursome and filling, the staff were happy and friendly... I can see why Viggo loved the food! The only glitches were the seats, and the unbelievable lack of parking... but that's Wellington CBD for you.
