Review #21651 - Dated: 12th of July, 2020 Author: mizim |
This is a game that I picked up for two reasons, the first is its size, small enough to fit into my bag when we were out and about and wanted a little entertainment, the other reason was because my youngest loved the cats on the box, that's as good a reason as any. The box is nice and sturdy and keeps closed by magnet power (which has lasted really well and never flopped open accidentally). The cards inside are nice and firm. There is a set of rules, these have been printed on the same cards as the game, which I thought was a good idea, as being small, you'd run the risk of the paper eventually ripping apart, the more they were read.
You can easily play this anywhere, which is always a plus to me. You create the three piles, one for cats, one for ladders and one for broken mirrors. You then take turns placing cards on the matching pile, but be careful, go over 13 and you have to take all the cards in that pile. There are also wild cards (all have a value of 4) that you can use. There is a bit of strategy here but you can choose to go full out and try to collect as many of one group as you can, because at the end of the round, the person with the most cards in the category, gets to get rid of them and not have them count against you. This was a fun little game, it does require some basic maths, but beyond that it is a fun little game.
