THE VICTIMS
In Boston, Detective Jane Rizzoli and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles are investigating a bizarre murder. A man has been found gutted and hanging in his home. When the remains of another victim are found, it is clear that this murderer has been at work for years, and not just in Boston.

THE KILLER
Six years ago, a group of travellers set off on an African safari. None of them are seen again - apart from one woman who stumbled out of the bush weeks later, barely alive. The only woman to have seen the killer's face.

THE SURVIVOR
Has the 'safari killer' resurfaced in Boston? Jane is sent to Africa to find the one link between the two cases - the only survivor - and convince her to face death once again...

Six years ago a group of people both females and males went on a safari that they had found on the internet called "Lost in Botswana" , though as the trip would go on they would definitely find themselves in awkward and dangerous positions and that the name "Lost in Botswana" would become their reality. Now Six years later in Boston, an experienced Hunter named Leon Gotti is found hanging like a dead gutted animal in his living room and it seems that this incident has to do with his sons's death on the Safari. As our favourite detective Jane Rizzoli does her detecting and Maura Isles her dissecting we discover that these two cases are connected and that from the safari , there was one survivor left who for the past six years has been living in fear and sleeping with one eye open as she waits for the same fate as those which happened that fateful safari - a safari she didn't even want to go on , in the first place. As like all of Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles books, this was another fabulous and fast-paced thriller which successfully connected the two incidents together. This is the perfect read for those fans of Mystery Novels and if you enjoy Tess Gerritsen's books check out the TV show Rizzoli and Isles.

I was in need of an easy read after a few heavy books over the summer. This definitely looked like it would fit the bill and indeed it did.

I haven't read any of Tess Gerritsen's books previously so wasn't familiar with the lead characters in this book. That didn't matter however as right from the beginning Gerritsen has very smoothly interwoven the back story from what I imagine must be previous books into the present story line. This was done in such a way as to ignite my interest in reading other books but without ruining the story line of previous plots.

I really enjoyed the way that this book was written with the present time mystery of why there was a dead body interspersed with a story from the past of an African Safari gone wrong. I liked how the stories eventually came together in a way that, unless you are rather good at detective work, will come as a great little twist. This book met all my criteria for a good psychological thriller with a gripping story line that was well written and well executed.

If you have read any of Gerritsens previous works then I imagine this is more of the same and you will really enjoy this book and if you haven't then this book is a fantastic introduction and you may find yourself like me down at your local library looking for more. I can highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
