Review #12239 - Dated: 5th of August, 2014 Author: tessak |
My kids have seen the chill factor squeeze cup slushy maker advertised on tv several times and each time my youngest two have begged me to buy one. Each time they have been dissapointed as they answer was always no. Then last week it happened :/ we were doing our weekly grocery shop, at a leisurely pace and all with smiles (a rare occurance when grocery shopping with children) when one of them spotted the slushy maker.
Feeling generous, or maybe I was just happy at the fact I had not yet said no several times to them or had to send any to the car, either way in a moment of madness I said 'yes' to the slushy maker I had been deyermined never to waste my money and buy. In that moment of weakness I succumbed and my kids happily chose a lime green squeeze cup slushy maker.
Its all they talked about for the rest of the shopping trip and all the way home too. Without even looking at the box I was informed you could use any drink; water, milk, juice, fizzy..full of colours and sugars or sugar and colour free varieties. The choice wad all yours. I was also informed it was easy to do mum, add the dronk, squeeze and enjoy! We wont even need your help mum, and it comes with a spoon straw too! I guess every cloud has a silver lining :)
What I was not informed of and they never told me, was, you need yo freeze the slushy cup for 4-5 jours or perhaps over night depending on your freezer. I guess its obvious, but my goodness try explaining to two excited young children they need to wait a good few hours before they can make a slushy. I admit there was some little people tears :( So into the freezer for slushy cup. 5 hpurs later they were ready to give it a whirl. I do like it is a simple novelty appliance kids can use :) I don't like that 5 hours in the freezer and lots of cup squeezing resulted I'm a cold glass of water.
Back into the freezer for mr slushy cup. this time over night. The next day resilted in cold water with ice chinks. Several attempts and we are still yet to successfully make a slushy. Yes they are fun, available on bright colours, easy to use and cheap enough but they don't really make a slushy just some icey water. A nit dissapointing for kids and I wouldn't recommend it personally.
