Review #9392 - Dated: 28th of August, 2013 Author: mizim |
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a pet dodo? What about a dinosaur living in your house or a living, fire-breathing dragon?
George loves to help out at Wormestall Farm, a secret sanctuary for the weird, wonderful, ever so slightly scary and extinct creatures. It beats doing an early morning paper round or neighbourhood dog walking session anyway: there’s a dodo in the dog bed and two dinosaurs in the duck pond.
This delightful début by Veronica Cossanteli is chocked full of fun and adventure and is extremely well-written. The author lives with a whole host of animals so she certainly knows what it's like to live with a tonne of animals. She's created a wonderful world full of animals that no longer exist, yet fit in perfectly in this book and world.
The Extincts is perfect for 7-11 year-old who love reading about weird, wild and wonderful creatures, have a taste for exhilarating escapades and rescue missions. There is a small amount of illustrations which compliments the story well. Give my son a year or two and I know that he will really enjoy this.
