WHEEEEEEE!!! Oh how I LOVE Bluetooth! I want to convert EVERYTHING I have to BT! (Do they make Bluetooth-enabled LCD Monitors yet?) OK, seriously though... after a somewhat mixed experience with the first generation of Bluetooth Mice, I was a little hesitant about this one being any great shakes, especially as it demands XP with Service Pack 2. (This is because of a new, more wide-spectrum Bluetooth-support module designed to maximise Bluetooth compatibility.) After much hassle trying to download SP2 from the MS website, and failing, I was sent an SP2 CD by the great team who handle MS products, and was underway. Install SP2, install mouse and BT transceiver drivers, reboot, and test mouse... YAY! It WORKS! After much playing and clicking, wiggling of the funky scrollwheel, hammering away at it til I drained the batteries, and generally being softly brutal with it, I came to one inescapable conclusion... this is a TOP-NOTCH MOUSE! I ran it for DAYS, at constant high-drain usage, and there was still enough juice in the batteries after they got too low to power the mouse, to run my TV remote for another 2 weeks and counting! So that is all good in my book. The tilt-wheel was a bit strange to get used to, but once I did, it was amazing how comfortable and natural it felt. The shape of the mouse is quite different from your standard run-of-the-mill mouse, but again, once you adapt to it's shape, you'll find it much more comfortable on the hand, causing less of 'The Claw', and a more natural, relaxed position causing less OOS/RSI strains. overall, my only regret about getting access to this mouse is that I will have to bid it a sad and tear-filled farewell now that the review is written. I am not looking forward to returning to my normal, awkward, corded mouse. But I might just have to go out and get me one to keep I think. :) |
