I enjoyed reading this book. It is the first grown up book I have read in a couple of years so was a good introduction into reading again as it was easy to read and it was a relatively short book with a really good storyline that drew you into reading the story. The book was centered around the main character Ted and her older teenage sister Ava. Ava was a natural beauty, film star material. While Ted was not the sterotypical image of beauty with her monobrow and long lanky legs. Ava dressed beautifully while Ted dressed in more casual comfortable clothes.

However one day while out busking in town Ted was spotted by a modelling scout and was told she would make a perfect model. Ava convinced Ted that it had to be a scam, and that the model scout was just out to get money out of Ted and she would never make a good model. So Ted at first forgot about it and dismissed it as a scam herself. Not far into the story Ava is diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer and becomes really ill. Ted eventually gets into the modelling and scores a few jobs from a couple of different model agencies.

I like how in the story the two girls start off with a normal teenage girl relationship where they are not very close. Throughout the story and as Ava becomes ill the girls grow closer and their relationship develops with Ted even shaving her head to support her sister when she lost her hair to the cancer treatment. I think it is a relationship that many people with sisters can relate to. I enjoyed how Ted who started off lacking in self confidence and was often the butt of other people's jokes about her appearance, became so full of confidence and was noticed for her beauty. As she grew up and became more in to the modelling she started dressing more like her sister Ava and met a good boyfriend.

To be a good sister she gave up the modelling so she could concentrate on being a good sister to Ava and helping her get better. It was fascinating seeing the characters change and develop throughout the story and just goes to show how something like cancer can pull people closer together and learn to appreciate each other more.

I would definetly recommend this story to others to read as it is a really good read and it is a storyline I feel people would be able to relate well to.

I really enjoyed this book. It is about teenage girl Ted who is not the sterotypical image of beauty unlike her older teen sister Ava who is naturally beautiful and fits the model image beauty to a tee. However one day when the two girls are busking in town Ted not Ava is spotted and approached by a model scout who thinks she would be perfect as a model. At first Ted doesnt take the modelling opportunity seriously as her sister Ava convinces her that it is a scam and she believes that with her monobrow and long dangly legs she would not make a model. Her sister Ava gets sick with cancer and Ted takes on the modelling work. However with her sister sick Ted eventually makes the decision to leave the fame and fortune of modelling to be a good sister to Ava. Along the way Ted makes many other decisions to support her sister including shaving her own head when Ava loses her hair with the cancer treatment. I loved the developing relationship between the two sisters in this story, it shows how family can pull together in times of hardship. The sisters weren't so close at the begining of the story but as Ava went through the cancer treatments and illness along the way her and Ted and the rest of the family became closer and really got to know each other as friends. I think many people with older sisters can relate to the girls relationship. I also liked how it showed that beauty isn't always the sterotypical image of beauty and that although Ted wasn't the filmstar beauty of her sister Ava she was able to be spotted by a few different modelling agencies. You can see the change in Ted as a character from the begining of the story to the end as she starts of seemingly unconfident in her own image and by the end of the story she is more a girl full of confidence who dresses to emphasize her figure and features and has finally found herself a good boyfriend.
