Review #9975 - Dated: 16th of August, 2008 Author: Tucker |
This is just the best thing if you have little kids. With a newborn in the house we figured now was the best time to look at this kind of thing because the little one will grow up with this being a normal part of the house, not something new and interesting to explore.
So amazingly simple to install, and only a little tricky to use, after about a week we found using this was almost automatic - grab, thumb, lift, swing, let go. Self-closing and self-locking are really important features for anything like this, but you should still look to make sure there is no little shadow right on your heels, or tiny fingers to get caught and ouchied.
At eight years old, my eldest has no trouble using this, and we decided, after looking carefully at the house layout and safety aspect, that putting this across the hallway just before his door would be the best placement - that way we can restrict access to the majority of the house, but still allow the littlest man crawl access to his room, the play room and the lounge, as well as to my office when I am in it. When I'm not, I'll just have to make sure I keep the door closed.
Overall, this is brilliant, and while the price may seem a little steep, the replacement cost of some of the more commonly breakable items in the house is way more, and what price do you put on your little bundle of joy's safety if they get near anything with dangling power cords. If you watch for the good deals, you should be able to pick this up from The Warehouse for less than this.
