"Multi-tasking? I'm a master," says Jane Bullivant. "I can stir fry, do my kids' algebra, plan Christmas and do my nails while sympathising over my friend's dead cat. "But this multi-tasking business has a large downside. I find myself never really living in the moment, free-falling from one 'must do' to the next. I love life. I want our family life to be rich, vibrant, alive, full of adventure. But how do you make this a reality?" Jane Bullivant is a columnist and speaker, author of Dear Lord, I feel like a Whale! and mother of three turbo-charged, home-schooled youngsters and a pet snail called Virgil. |

Funny and down-to-earth, Skydiving For Parents is a smallish book that I'll quite happily keep in the Parenting section in my bookcase. Although it was difficult to read in places, with a hint of waffling that rather took away from the key points being made in the book, there were a few good tips hidden within, along with quite a bit of chuckling caused by the antics described by Jane of her kids, as well as those described in the snippets from the Blog entries scattered throughout the book. Jane Bullivant reminds us of some of the more important points to being a parent, as she uses her wit and somewhat chaotic charm to bring us back to basics in parenting, in order to help people get the most out of family life. It's got me wanting to head off and try a few of the suggestions with my li'l demon monkey, that's for sure. |
