Sea Patrol: Season Four product reviews

Patrol Boat sailors say their job is the best in the Navy. A small boat and its crew facing real dangers - not just war games.

There are plenty of examples of those dangers in the 4th explosive series of Sea Patrol. The crew of the HMAS Hammersley is back on duty cruising Australia's tropical north from the Great Barrier Reef and through the waters of the Torres Strait. With 24 sailors from every walk of life, of every age and temperament, life on board can be a pressure cooker that can bring out the best, and sometimes the worst in all of them - men and women alike. But the adventures they encounter also help forge deep and lasting friendships.

Under the watch of Commander Mike Flynn, supported by his Executive Office Kate McGregor, the crew of the Hammersley narrowly escape disaster when attempting a rescue of a fishing vessel ready to explode; confront crocodile poachers; avert a uranium heist; and rescue a young girl from kidnappers. Along the way they encounter a commune living on a poisoned paradise; pursue booze busters in a dry coastal town; battle floods and seagoing cattle rustlers; and face a crew loss at sea.

Another great season with heaps of action. There was no central theme to this season unlike the first three but still a great story.

I would have liked to know what happened to Buffer and Nav but then the sailors just go to where they are posted so I suppose we are supposed to believe that they had been posted to another boat. It was relatively easy to get used to the new actors but there was suddenly no navigator and it seemed that the rest of the crew could do the job.

The promised romance finally has a chance but it is very short lived. There is romance between some of the crew and decisions have to be made. There are a lot of shore leave and guys relaxing and letting hair down. The last episode was nail biting specially when there was an explosion. If I hadn't known that there was another season still to watch and googled to see what would happen I would have been really worried.
